EV Initiative Launched for Lake Placid

With support and funding from NYSERDA, Fosterra and ANCA have teamed up to support the Village of Lake Placid as they consider the long-term implications of electric vehicle (EV) adoption across the region. As a major destination both in the winter and summer, Lake Placid is increasingly the host for visiting EV drivers, as well as full time residents, who want to avoid “range anxiety” when making a trip to the Adirondack Mountains.

The EV Charging and Planning Study (EV-CAPS) is a one-year initiative to forecast EV adoption and usage across multiple scenarios and develop a plan for the number and location of new charging stations in Lake Placid. This effort involves multiple stakeholders to ensure that future investments meet the needs of all community members and builds confidence for EV travelers to the area.

This effort leverages Fosterra’s work nationally on EV adoption planning and municipal electric programs to develop robust charging infrastructure. Results are expected by the end of 2023 and will be published at that time.
