Electric Vehicle Planning Study for Lake Placid Published

Fosterra is proud to announce the completion and publication of the groundbreaking Electric Vehicle Charging Analysis and Planning Study (EVCAPS) for the Village of Lake Placid. Conducted in partnership with the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) and the Village of Lake Placid Municipal Electric Department (LPME) and funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), this pivotal report marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to support sustainable community development and address the pressing challenges of climate change.

The EVCAPS project developed a comprehensive analysis to forecast the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) in the region and outline the necessary expansion of charging infrastructure to meet future demand. Our findings highlight a promising future, with EV adoption expected to surge, necessitating the deployment of up to 300 new charging stations in Lake Placid by 2028. This expansion will ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy the benefits of EV ownership, contributing to a cleaner, greener environment.

Key insights from the study reveal a seven-fold increase in EV presence on the roads, driven by state goals and regional enthusiasm for sustainable transportation. To accommodate this growth, a strategic roadmap was developed, detailing the phased deployment of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) across key locations within the Village. This initiative not only promises to enhance Lake Placid’s appeal as a forward-thinking, eco-friendly destination but also positions the Village as a leader in the transition to zero-emission transportation.

The collaboration with stakeholders, including local businesses, community members, and regional partners, has been instrumental in shaping the project’s success. Their invaluable input has helped tailor the recommendations to ensure they meet the specific needs and challenges of the Lake Placid community, paving the way for a more sustainable and electrified future.

As we move forward, Fosterra remains committed to supporting Lake Placid and similar communities in their journey toward sustainability. We extend our gratitude to all project partners, stakeholders, and the dedicated teams at ANCA and LPME for their contributions to this pivotal study. Together, we are driving positive change, one electric vehicle at a time.
